foster care family counselor position description

**Currently offering onetime salary bonuses to new employees hired into this position meeting all expectations at the time of the following performance reviews:

3 months: $1000; 6 months: $1500.**


As the oldest therapeutic foster care program in Ohio, YAS has provided high-quality treatment foster care, while working collaboratively with other child serving agencies to develop and implement a community support system for families.


This position plays a key role in coordination of the treatment team. The Foster Care Family Counselor works closely with the Foster Care Case Manager who takes primary responsibility of implementation of the case plan, which is developed by the team under the supervision of the Foster Care Program Director and Clinical Supervisor. The Foster Care Family Counselor is primarily responsible for completing the initial diagnostic evaluation and providing ongoing counseling/psychotherapy to youth in care, focused on meeting the therapeutic needs of the youth. The Foster Care Family Counselor works with the treatment team to ensure children/families are linked with needed services available within the community and/or at YAS. Due to the nature of foster care-giving and due to the importance of the Foster Care Family Counselor in supporting youth in care and foster caregivers, it is expected that the Foster Care Family Counselor will maintain a flexible schedule which may include some evening and weekend availability. The Foster Care Family Counselor is expected to fulfill on-call duties as scheduled by the Foster Care Program Director with additional compensation provided for on-call duties. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

LSW, LISW, PC, or PCC required. Interpersonal skills, judgment, flexibility and commitment are essential to the position, as well as the ability to work a flexible schedule. 1 year social work experience preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Automobile insurance with minimum liability amounts, as specified by agency policy, required.
