3 months: $1000; 6 months: $1500.**

As the oldest therapeutic foster care program in Ohio, YAS has provided high-quality treatment foster care, while working collaboratively with other child serving agencies to develop and implement a community support system for families.

The Foster Care Family Counselor is a trained and weekly supervised caring adult who is a positive role model for the youth in our care. While working closely with the foster youth's treatment team, including the youth themselves, the Foster Care Family Counselor takes primary responsibility - under the direction of the Director of Foster Care and Clinical Supervisor - for the implementation of the individual service plan. The Foster Care Family Counselor provides services at times and locations when they are most needed, allowing for highly individualized and effective intervention. Thus, it is expected that the ideal candidate maintain a flexible schedule which may include some evening and weekend availability.

The Foster Care Family Counselor provides support and consultation to youth in care, families of youth in care, treatment foster parents, and other treatment team members relative to their role as described in the individual service plan. The Foster Care Family Counselor helps youth and families meet their obligations as well as inspiring them to set and achieve new goals by coordinating and linking them with needed services available within the community and/or at YAS. The Foster Care Family Counselor is responsible for monitoring their assigned foster homes and foster caregivers as well as ensuring compliance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (ODMHAS) and Council on Accreditation (COA) standards. Additionally, the Foster Care Family Counselor is expected to fulfill on-call duties as scheduled by the Director of Foster Care. 


LSW, LISW, PC, or PCC required. Interpersonal skills, judgment, flexibility and commitment are essential to the position, as well as the ability to work a flexible schedule. Valid driver’s license required. Automobile insurance with minimum liability amounts, as specified by agency policy, required.
