The Healthy Families America (HFA) Home Visiting program at Youth Advocate Services is a part of the Help Me Grow array of services funded by the Ohio Department Health (ODH). Our program provides critical support, resources and strategies to at-risk, overburdened families. Services focus on expectant and new parents/caregivers and include family assessment, child development screening, and equipping families with information and resources. Our Home Visitation services are designed to increase prenatal care, decrease pre-term/ low weight babies, reduce child maltreatment, and help parents and their children develop strong, loving bonds that will last a life time. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
​Join our HFA Home Visiting team for a rewarding opportunity to empower and support parents, improve child health and development outcomes, and invest in our community. As a Home Visitor with Youth Advocate Services, you will work closely with pregnant women and also caregivers of children aged 0-3 to provide support, encouragement and education regarding a health pregnancy, child development and positive, empathetic parenting. You will support families to connect with needed resources in collaboration with other community providers. Family and child assessments, along with the family’s personal hopes and goals, will guide your approach with each unique family.

The National, evidenced based HFA Home Visiting model and a comprehensive parenting curriculum provide each Home Visitor with a framework to ensure each family has access to high quality, supportive services. You will be responsible for the implementation of required assessments, curriculum activities and timely completion of documentation within our program’s secure data system. Individual, weekly supervision along with weekly team meetings will provide you with the support, skills, and encouragement you need to succeed. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree is required: If degree not directly related to early childhood or human services, a minimum of one year experience with pregnant women, infants, or toddlers is additionally required.  LSW is strongly preferred but not required. Completion of all required trainings and acquisition of a provisional Home Visiting Credential within 45 days of hire. Valid driver’s license required.


Successful Home Visitors are organized and intentional in their work of supporting and strengthening families. Ideal candidates will be familiar with trauma informed practices, child development, and positive parenting strategies. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong judgment, and a passion for both maternal and child wellbeing are also priorities in hiring for this position.
